TREAD DEPTH
BETTER TREAD DEPTH
Normally the 11R22.5 size of shallow, highway trailer tires is not very common nor popular with importers. Traditionally the design brought in to service this wheel size is either the straight ribbed All Position pattern or a grooved, zig zag pattern for construction/off-road use. Both designs are suited to flatbed trailer applications as well as straight trucks and various pieces of construction and utility equipment.
The tires currently used are generally 18/32" deep or deeper and very heavy. This deeper tread depth, though a benefit in certain applications like heavy straight trucks or weighted gondola trailers, is not an ideal asset in road trailer or chassis positions because of the uneven wear that often comes when deep tread rubber is combined with light or empty loads… instead of selling a standard, deeper treaded AP, the HS23 will be a proper (shallow) trailer depth of 13/32” (possibly 14 – design is being finalized) for excellent, longer lasting, and even tread wear.
